An 18-year-old Arsenal prospect is currently on trial at Everton.

Everton must make a difficult choice as they evaluate a trialist who scored the game-winning goal in an under-21 match against Tottenham Hotspur.
In the Premier League 2 this past weekend, the reserve team defeated the 10-man North Londoners 2-1. Owing to a hamstring issue, highly-regarded striker Francis Okoronkwo was replaced in the opening minute.

However, that gave Arsenal trialist Omari Benjamin the chance to win over the Everton coaches, which he did. After making an impression in the win over Spurs, Benjamin appears to have given himself a decent chance of signing a contract with the Merseysiders. Given that Dominic Calvert-Lewin and Beto, the squad’s starting forwards, are still struggling to score goals, he could join the team at a favorable time.
Naturally, Benjamin would be signed as a potential in the future, but if Everton can’t find a solution to their goal-scoring problems, a chance to sign him could arise in the upcoming years. Young striker Youssef Chermiti, who has recently played for the reserve squad in the hopes of persuading Sean Dyche to give him a start in the starting lineup, would be in the same situation as the Wales international for under-19 teams.
According to Transfermarkt, the forward, who was born in 2005, scored 18 goals in 30 games for Arsenal’s under-18 team during his formative years.
That being said, it’s a little unexpected that the Gunners are willing to let him go in the summer, but in academy football, such things frequently happen.
In any case, Everton could benefit from Arsenal’s loss, and they must decide whether to extend a contract to Benjamin. Benjamin is being courted by Everton soon after Kingsford Boakye, formerly of Serie A powerhouse Milan, was signed.
After leaving the Italian team in the summer of last year, the 19-year-old signed with The Toffees in January.
Last month, Boakye earned his Premier League 2 debut for Everton under-21, playing the entire 90 minutes in a 2-1 loss to Aston Villa.
Journalist Geoffrey Blunt of Royal Blue Mersey said following the game: “There were definitely small glimpses of the ability that enticed Everton to sign him (Boakye) on a two-year contract.” He and the team as a whole gave a stronger performance in the second half. He appeared to have pace and will be difficult to knock off the ball after being on the receiving end of a few nice through passes as the Blues midfield was strengthened.
With the ability to play on both wings, the Ghanaian will be looking to establish himself in Dyche’s lineup prior to his 2026 contract expiring.
It remains to be seen if he ends up being a successful addition for the team, but it’s good to see Everton making a youth investment.
