Roundup of transfers: G Jabri Abdur-Rahim chooses Providence

Jabri Abdur-Rahim, a former guard for Georgia, declared his commitment to Providence on Monday. After spending three seasons at Georgia and one season at Virginia, Abdur-Rahim made his way onto the transfer site. In twenty-three games (seven starts), Abdur-Rahim averaged 12.2 points and 3.5 rebounds, marking a career year. He shot 35.6 percent from three-point range, which is not too dissimilar from his 35.4 percent career average.

Three players have committed to Providence as of right now through the transfer portal. Bensley Joseph, a guard from Miami, and Christ Essandoko, a center from Saint Joseph, were earlier added by the Friars. –Malik Dia, a former forward for Belmont, is on his way to Ole Miss through the transfer portal. Before moving to Belmont, Dia played for Vanderbilt in 2022–2023 to start his SEC college career. The previous season saw an explosion in Dia’s output. In 33 games (24 starts), he averaged 16.9 points, 5.8 rebounds, and 1.2 assists per game. He made 34.1 percent of his 3-pointers and 48.8 percent of his total shots.

Between Vanderbilt and Belmont in 53 college games, Dia has averaged 11.5 points and 4.2 rebounds per contest. –Jamie Kaiser, a transfer forward from Maryland, committed to Butler. Despite being a four-star prospect entering the high school season last year, Kaiser didn’t make much of an impression on the Terrapins as a freshman. In 33 games (five starts), he averaged 4.4 points and 2.0 rebounds in 19.5 minutes per game. Kaiser’s field goal percentage was only 26.9%. –Christian “CJ” Jones, a guard transfer from Illinois-Chicago, was added by Kansas State. In 62 games (50 starts) during his two years at UIC, Jones averaged 9.0 points, 3.6 assists, and 2.7 rebounds per game. In 2023–24, he finished as the second-highest scorer for the Flames with 11.4 points and 4.8 assists.
