Liverpool set to ‘break club record’ and give biggest contract in history to key player

A big contract is about to be given to one of Liverpool’s great players. According to reports, Liverpool is prepared to compromise on pay in order to secure a new contract for a key player.
Many of the team’s top players were left wondering what would happen to them when Jurgen Klopp shocked everyone by stating earlier this year that he would be leaving Liverpool at the conclusion of the season.
Jordan Henderson and Fabinho left the team to make place for Alexis Mac Allister, Dominik Szoboszlai, Wataru Endo, and Ryan Gravenberch during the summer midfield overhaul, which the German manager managed. Liverpool has played very well in spite of injuries in the team, leading them to the top of the Premier League, a Carabao Cup already secured, and a chance to compete for European glory in the Europa League.

Liverpool must replace Klopp in addition to making some difficult decisions when the contracts of its great players expire. In the last days of the summer transfer window last year, Liverpool turned down a £150 million bid from Al-Ittihad for Mohamed Salah, whose current contract is slated to expire in 2025. Salah has been strongly linked to a move to Saudi Arabia.
Virgil van Dijk, the club captain, and Trent Alexander-Arnold, the vice captain, have contracts that expire in 2025, but the latter is strongly connected to Real Madrid.
Although Real Madrid is rumored to think they may take advantage of Alexander-Arnold’s contract issue and move him to the Bernabeu, the player has been with Liverpool since he was six years old.
If recent reports are accurate, Carlo Ancelotti will be disappointed because Liverpool is expected to make the 25-year-old a club record bid in an attempt to secure his long-term future.
Football Insider reports that Liverpool is expected to make Alexander-Arnold a larger offer than it has ever given to Van Dijk or Salah. The same source claims that although the England international has expressed his desire to stay with his boyhood club, he is flattered by suggestions that link him with the La Liga giants.
Alexander-Arnold’s weekly salary at Anfield is reportedly about £180,000. Salah, who signed a record-breaking contract in 2022, is now the club’s highest earner.
Van Dijk clarified remarks he made earlier in the season regarding his own future, saying he hasn’t decided whether to stay after Klopp leaves.
“I am totally committed to the club and I love it,” he declared. I cherish every single second. We are going to go all in as I am the captain; we’ll see how that goes. It will be unusual to not have him in the upcoming season because, for the team, he is simply a regular guy and has been for a long time. He is also a bit of a father to us.
“But I do not want to speak too much about it because we are still in the mix of it, still focused on things we want to achieve.”
