Leeds star just made himself droppable after 6/10 no-show vs Millwall

Against the Lions, the Whites’ attacker gave a lackluster effort. Leeds United defeated Millwall 2-0 at Elland Road on Sunday to take the lead in the Championship going into the international break.
Although the Foxes were playing Chelsea in the FA Cup, the Whites surpassed them in the rankings because they have now played one more game than their rivals. In the second tier, Daniel Farke’s team is scoring 2.1 points per game on average. If they maintain that average through the final eight games of the season, they would have an incredible 99 points.

In the first half, Dan James ensured the three points with a cool finish off the bench after Wilfried Gnonto opened the score against Millwall with a spectacular left-footed shot from the edge of the box. To guarantee that they stay untouchable in the starting lineup, Gnonto scored, Georginio Rutter assisted on both goals, and Crysencio Summerville produced five opportunities during the contest.
Though he had been on a terrific run of form coming into Sunday’s match, center-forward Patrick Bamford battled throughout and has since established himself as droppable due to his bad performance, which could allow Mateo Joseph or Joel Piroe to enter the game. Prior to the match against Millwall, the former England international has made 13 appearances for the Whites in all competitions since the start of the year.
Bamford amassed an impressive eight goals and two assists in those 13 games. During that time, he had made nine Championship starts and scored seven goals and provided one assist.
After spending the first half of the season making 16 appearances in the second division as a substitute without recording a goal, he went on an incredible run of play. During that run of cameos, he lost 1-0 away to Stoke City and missed a penalty as a substitute, which was the low point of his campaign. Beginning this season, Bamford had to earn a spot in the starting lineup. Since then, he has contributed eight goals in nine league starts for the Whites, averaging one goal or assist per 1.13 starts.
With that level of productivity in the last third, he seemed unstoppable. But given his lackluster performance against Millwall, he might be dropped before Watford’s match following the international break. Leeds had the opportunity to go up to the top of the league on Sunday, and the 30-year-old marksman was chosen to lead the line once more.
Unfortunately, Bamford’s effort against Neil Harris’s team did not cause the Whites to overtake Leicester; rather, it was the other way around. The table above illustrates how ineffective the seasoned attacker was at the top of the pitch, failing to provide his teammates a chance or test the goalkeeper with a shot in 89 minutes of action.
During the match at Elland Road, he was also defeated in 67% (6/9) of his physical sparring matches, indicating that Millwall’s players were just too strong for him.
