Linebacker Medrick Burnett Jr. of Alabama A&M is still on life support.

Alabama A&M linebacker Medrick Burnett Jr. remains on life support following a severe head injury sustained during the Magic City Classic on October 26, 2024. He suffered multiple brain bleeds and severe swelling, which required a craniotomy—a last resort to alleviate the pressure. Burnett, who recently turned 20, has experienced additional complications during his hospitalization, and his condition remains critical【5】【6】.

The football community, including his team and family, has rallied around him. Alabama A&M’s coach, Connell Maynor, and others have visited and supported his family. To help cover medical expenses and housing for Burnett’s family, who traveled from California, a GoFundMe and an emergency fund set up by the university have collectively raised thousands, though more funds are needed【5】【6】.

Burnett transferred to Alabama A&M from Grambling State and had a promising football career ahead. The university and his teammates continue to express support and hope for his recovery【6】.
