American tennis player Jessica Pegula has disclosed that Coco Gauff, her partner, has honored her promise to compete in the doubles division at Wimbledon. Players from all over the world are competing in the third Grand Slam of the year to display their skill at the greatest level.
Pegula and Gauff are one duo that will be the early favorites in the doubles division. It’s interesting to note that, despite winning the French Open doubles championship, the 20-year-old switched doubles partners. She teamed up with Katerina Siniakova and the two of them defeated Sara Errani and Jasmine Paolini of Italy in straight sets, 7-6, 6-3.

Pegula, who previously competed with Gauff in the doubles division, was recently cited in an article as saying that the world number two in the singles division honored her promise.
Fortunately, I believe I had already asked her [Gauff] before that. I think I had it locked down already,” she remarked. “Yes, indeed. Yes, she did. That’s good to know. However, perhaps we can gain some momentum here [at Wimbledon]. For the Olympics, at least—I know it’s not clay. It’s good; obviously, it’s great that she won a doubles Slam, and hopefully, you’ve noticed that we seem to play well in doubles. Thus, I believe the Olympics will be enjoyable.

Seeing how both players do in the ongoing mega-event, where they are also competing in the singles division, will be interesting. With a score of 6-1, 6-2, Gauff defeated Caroline Dolehide in straight sets, securing her spot in the second round. She will now play in the round of 64 against Anca Todoni.
However, Pegula also guaranteed her spot in the round of 64 after defeating Ashlyn Krueger 6-2, 6-0 in straight sets. On Thursday, she will play Wang Xinyu of China in the second round tie.
