Birmingham City pay £450,000 to sign Wrexham’s star

While Wrexham is actively seeking new players, one of Phil Parkinson’s transfer targets appears to be headed to another League One team.

This summer, Wrexham has only signed one player, but for supporters, it was a dream come true.

Arthur Okonkwo, the goalkeeper, has signed a three-year contract to rejoin the team permanently at the STōK Cae Ras.

Okonkwo, who left Arsenal to join Wrexham, was a great addition to have on the summer roster.

However, more additions are required, and some recently reported targets have been ruled out.

Marc Leonard to be missed by Wrexham
Wrexham was reportedly considering some of those names, though it’s unclear how seriously they were taken.

Now that Marc Leonard seems ready to make a move, another target seems to be going somewhere else.

According to reports from May, Wrexham was eager to sign Leonard, a talented player for Brighton & Hove Albion.

After two successful seasons on loan at Northampton Town, the Scottish player appears prepared to quit the Seagulls permanently.

Given that Leonard is a midfielder who can contribute right away in League One and has the potential to become a star, Wrexham’s interest is understandable.

But according to David Anderson of The Mirror, Birmingham City is getting closer to acquiring Leonard.

Birmingham is rumored to be spending approximately £450,000 to sign Leonard as they get ready for life in League One.

The Blues, who obviously think Leonard can help them reach that aim, will be vying for promotion back to the Championship.

There will soon be another transfer dispute in Birmingham.
This season, Birmingham and Wrexham will draw a lot of attention.

While Rob McElhenney and Ryan Reynolds, two well-known Hollywood owners, lead Wrexham, NFL icon Tom Brady is a shareholder in Birmingham.

Bizarre rumors have already surfaced suggesting Birmingham wants to relocate its League One matchup against Wrexham to the United States.

That won’t happen, but it looks that Birmingham defeated Wrexham at Leonard; the two teams will soon square off over another move.

According to reports, Wrexham and Birmingham are now in the running to sign Ryan Longman of Hull City.

Having spent the previous season on loan at Millwall, Longman is in high demand right now. Wrexham is undoubtedly trying to win this race, and Leonard is certain to fall through the cracks.
