Shohei Ohtani stuns Dodgers -- and many around the world -- with marriage announcement

The batboy’s reaction time was lauded by the Dodgers official account.

The Los Angeles Dodgers batboy most likely prevented superstar pitcher Shohei Ohtani from taking a foul ball to the head as he was in the dugout.

The Dodgers’ best player, who was in the dugout wearing his batting helmet during a game against the Chicago White Sox, appeared to have dodged a ball that was flying toward him at a fast pace.

The Dodgers batboy leaped out of the way behind Ohtani and snagged the fast-moving ball by his shoulder with his bare hands without hesitation. The batboy took a quick glance around before coolly setting the ball behind him and appearing to savor the occasion while other members of the group cheered.

Ohtani came back to thank the batboy, and a trainer on the bench looked shocked, jaw still open.

Javi, the equipment worker, was commended by the Dodgers’ official X account for having a reaction time that was far faster than average.

“Sho was saved by Javi’s quick reflexes,” the group added.

Ohtani would go on to have another incredible season, blasting his 25th home run in just two at-bats as the Dodgers defeated the White Sox 4-0. In all four key batting statistics, the Japanese slugger is ranked among the top five in the key League Baseball.

Despite being one of the finest pitchers in the major leagues most of the time, he hasn’t pitched in 2024 because of a persistent elbow issue.

The Dodgers will pay Ohtani until 2043, when he turns 48.

The celebrity was recently entangled in a gambling scandal with the alleged federal bust of his interpreter, Ippei Mizuhara, for embezzling millions of dollars from Ohtani in order to settle debts he accrued from using an unlicensed bookmaker to wager on sports.

Early in June 2024, Mizuhara entered a guilty plea.
