Boston — Following his recall by Boston on Monday, Josh Winckowski made his Red Sox debut on Tuesday night out of the bullpen.

In the Red Sox’s 9-4 loss to the Toronto Blue Jays at Fenway Park, the right-hand pitcher gave up two runs on six hits and struck out eight Blue Jays players.

Winckowski told NESN.com on Wednesday that it “felt good.” “Seeing all of the guys again was pleasant. I think the hardest part was missing everyone at that point.

Midway through May, Winckowski was sent down to Triple-A Worcester after making 12 appearances for Boston and compiling a 1-1 record with a 3.33 ERA.

He remarked, “It’s nice to get out there and kind of see the work you put in in Triple-A come to fruition.” “Being back on the mound was a really good thing.”

Winckowski didn’t let coming out of the bullpen alter his perspective when he received the call, despite the fact that he had started on Tuesday in Worcester.

“You comprehend the circumstances,” he clarified. “It felt regular because you kind of understand what’s going on when the phone rings in whatever inning it was. Simply keep going until (Red Sox manager Alex Cora) shakes your hand, one batter at a time.

Winckoski noted that while he was in Worcester, he watched the Red Sox.

“It’s been fantastic,” he said. “I’ve been having a great time watching from Worcester. We constantly support the guys down there and try to stay in touch.

Here, the lads have been playing excellent, thrilling baseball. Being up here and a part of it now, with the hopes of keeping it continuing and making a contribution, is an honor.

Winckowski will start the Red Sox’s last game of their three-game series against the San Diego Padres on Sunday, Cora said. After an hour of pregame coverage, you may watch the game on NESN. First pitch from Fenway Park is slated for 1:35 p.m. ET.
