Dodgers News: Tyler Anderson Throwing Strikes & Trusting Defense During Scoreless Innings Streak - SportsCity.com

The Red Sox looked prepared to pack up their sunny early start to the MLB season and return to the fact that this is not a particularly good team after losing back-to-back games to the awful White Sox earlier this month in a run of nine losses in 15 games. Strangely enough, though, Boston rebounded the next day, taking two of three from the formidable Phillies and Yankees before sweeping the Blue Jays thanks to an incredible offensive awakening.

After suffering back-to-back losses to the terrible White Sox earlier this month in a run of nine losses in 15 games, the Red Sox were ready to pack up their sunny early start to the MLB season and admit that they are not a very good club. Ironically, though, Boston bounced back the next day, winning two of three games against the powerful Yankees and Phillies before sweeping the Blue Jays behind a remarkable offensive awakening.

The Red Sox were included as a team hoping to add to their roster before the deadline by former MLB General Manager Jim Bowden in a piece for The Athletic titled, “MLB trade targets for each contender, plus deadline priorities for all 30 teams.” On the offensive side, getting a lefty starter is probably more important than adding a shortstop to replace the injured Trevor Story. This is especially true now that Garrett Whitlock is out for the season.

Regarding the Red Sox trade strategy, Bowden wrote the following:

The Red Sox would love to have a left-hander in their lineup as they seek to add more starting pitchers to their roster. In order to fill Trevor Story’s spot until he returns the following year following shoulder surgery, they are also searching for a temporary shortstop.

Dodgers LHP Tyler Anderson named to National League All-Star team - True Blue LA

Anderson and others (like Jesus Luzardo or, if Boston really wanted to go nuts, Garrett Crochet) would suit the bill. However, Anderson makes the most sense because he is a seasoned player with one more year left on his deal.

Anderson Tyler was a star player.
Even at 34 years old, Anderson is a pretty good pitcher. He began his career with the Rockies, where he was developed for the first four years of his career. He later played for the Giants, the Pirates, the Mariners, and the Dodgers.

Anderson’s best professional season in L.A. was 15-5 with a 2.57 ERA and an All-Star selection. Utilizing that, he was able to secure a three-year, $39 million contract with the Angels; nonetheless, he had a difficult first season (6-6, 5.43 ERA) last year.

This season, Anderson has improved significantly, going 6-7 with a 2.48 ERA and 1.177 WHIP. Nevertheless, Anderson is anticipated to be active once the trade market heats up, as the Angels are about to embark on a much-needed rebuilding effort. In terms of Wins Above Replacement, an advanced metric, he tops MLB pitchers.

Tyler Anderson, an Angels SP, was ranked as the fifth-most likely player to be moved this month by Jon Heyman of the New York Post. Unbelievably, he leads all pitchers in WAR (4.0). Carlos Estevez and Taylor Ward might also be let go. Possibilities of deal: favorable
