Leeds United accept £20 million offer deal for a star.

Leeds forward Wilfried Gnonto close to signing new contract - The Athletic

Leeds United is reportedly getting ready to accept offers for a number of valuable players this summer, including Wilfried Gnonto, who has drawn interest from Premier League and international teams.

Before a matchup with Birmingham City in August of last year, Gnonto requested that head coach Daniel Farke resign from the position following the team’s relegation from the Premier League. The Italian winger did not want to stay and compete for promotion in the Championship with the West Yorkshire team since there were rumors of interest from teams like Everton and Lazio

However, no transaction materialized with any suitors, and Gnonto was left with no choice but to return to training when the summer window of 2023 closed with his tail between his legs. After some time, the forward was able to reclaim his place in the squad and went on to play 36 league games for Leeds United. He played 1,654 minutes in the Championship overall under Farke, or about 45 minutes every ninety minutes.

Leeds, on the other hand, has an enormous £190 million in unpaid credit after failing to secure promotion back to the Premier League on their first attempt. Of this amount, £73 million must be paid before the end of the month. The board is therefore in a desperate attempt to let go of some players this summer in order to pay off any debt. One of the club’s most important assets is Gnonto.

Top-tier team Nottingham Forest has reportedly made a £16.9 million bid for the 20-year-old, according to a report from Africa Foot via Leeds United News. Nuno Espirito Santo is looking to bolster his team this summer in anticipation of what will probably be another difficult struggle for survival.

Forest’s offer of £17 million is undoubtedly over market value and will be difficult to reject given that Gnonto still has three years left on his Elland Road deal, giving him a transfer value of £13.5 million according to Transfermarkt.

Leeds United also needs money, and they need it quickly. Gnonto and Crysencio Summerville, for example, need to be sold as soon as possible if the hierarchy plans to support Farke in the summer window. This will keep any transfer business from happening too late in the window.
