Angel Reese of the Chicago Sky has accomplished something that no other player in WNBA history has ever done.
In Thursday’s game against the Dallas Wings, Reese made WNBA history by becoming the first rookie to earn a double-double in seven straight games with an offensive rebound and layup in the third quarter.
The Sky defeated the Wings 83-72 to snap a four-game losing streak, led by a game-high 16 points and 18 rebounds from Reese.
Over the past month, Reese has truly blossomed as a professional. She has averaging 13.4 points and 12.8 rebounds per game since June 1.
Reese has the most rebounds per game (10.8) among all rookies across the whole season. With 6.9 rebounds per game, Kamilla Cardoso, her Sky colleague, is in second place. With 1.9 thefts per game, Reese also leads all rookies in steals. Her average of 12.4 points per game is second only to Caitlin Clark’s 16.3 points per game this season among all WNBA rookies.
