In keeping with his pledge to the 37-year-old goalie,

co-owner Ryan Reynolds extended goalkeeper Mark Howard’s contract and made an appearance on his podcast.

Not only did Wrexham co-owner Ryan Reynolds extend goalkeeper Mark Howard’s contract, but he also made good on his pledge to be on the stopper’s podcast.

In addition to confirming Howard’s position on the squad, the gesture showed Reynolds’ dedication to having meaningful and personal interactions with both his players and the community. He’s now given the backup goalie, a well-liked player in the Reds’ lineup, the opportunity to stay longer.

Howard has agreed to a new contract with Wrexham, which will keep him at the team for a further year. Howard emphasized his joy and delight at staying with the club, reiterating his commitment to the team’s future success, even though the financial conditions were kept a secret.

I’m overjoyed. As my career comes to a conclusion, being a part of the Club’s journey is a huge honor for me, and I still love playing football,” Howard remarked. “I know I’ll be playing a different character from now on, but I adore it nonetheless. Of course, I would love to play every single week, but at 37, I have to acknowledge that I am not physically capable of doing so.

He went on, “I really enjoyed working in that goalkeeping unit last year and pushing the other keepers.” “And I’ll keep doing that going forward, hopefully picking up a few games along the way.”

After the 2022 season, the 37-year-old goalkeeper left Carlisle United and joined Wrexham. Even though he signed midway through the season, veteran Premier League goalkeeper Ben Foster took his spot, and he nevertheless assisted Wrexham in their promotion from the National League.

Howard played in two cup matches and made six appearances in League Two the following season. He also kept three clean sheets and contributed to another promotion, this time to League One.

Reynolds not only received a new contract but also fulfilled his commitment to be on Howard’s podcast, “Yours, Mine, Away.” In February of last year, Reynolds was invited to a special episode of the podcast, which usually hosts guests who are fellow goalkeepers, showcasing his dedication to the team.
