Jackson Lloyd, a 6-foot-7, 290-pound rising senior, has around 20 offers to his name and is essentially a prospect who can pick his school of choice.
Does it come as a surprise that he choose the Alabama Crimson Tide even in the post-Nick Saban era?
Although head coach Kalen DeBoer hasn’t even led the Tide in a play yet, he’s already had great success in the recruiting process, carrying on where head coach Nick Saban left off.
Lloyd, who 247Sports ranks as the No. 16 offensive tackle in the 2025 class, committed to Alabama on Tuesday.
Why he committed still boils down to that winning culture that DeBoer got from Saban.
“What stood out most at Alabama was their winning culture and doing everything to be the best,” he stated to 247Sports.
The fact that Lloyd was hired by DeBoer and his team while they were still at Washington also helps.

“Being at Carmel and getting an offer from Alabama and their history, it was crazy,” stated Lloyd. “Although I’ve always considered visiting Alabama, I never gave it much attention. It’s crazy to even realize that I have this opportunity. It’s also really great that coach DeBoer prioritizes me at two different schools.”

Only ten days ago, Lloyd listed Alabama, Ohio State, Oregon, Stanford, Tennessee, and USC as his top six. But since he had only sent officials to Ohio State, Alabama, and USC, it had appeared that this was a race between three teams for him.
After visiting Ohio State on his first visit, he had planned to visit USC the following weekend; however, his visit to Tuscaloosa, Alabama, sealed the decision.

Lloyd is rated as a four-star by 247Sports, ranking as the 146th best player overall, the 16th best offensive tackle in the country, and the 13th best prospect in California. Lloyd is the No. 187 overall player, the No. 19 offensive tackle in the nation, and the No. 17 recruit in California for 2025, according to the industry-generated 247Sports Composite Rankings.
