Breaking: fans react as Kansas City announces KMBC Returns..
As a weekend sports anchor, Dennis Evans has rejoined KMBC, the ABC affiliate in Kansas City.
Prior to taking on anchoring positions in St. Louis, Las Vegas, and Jacksonville—where he also hosted the Jacksonville Jaguars TV broadcasts—Evans worked as a sports reporter for KMBC.
Len Jennings, the sports director of KMBC, stated, “Dennis returns to the KMBC 9 Sports department with a wealth of Kansas City and national sports knowledge and a desire to deliver the best coverage to our viewers.” “I am excited to collaborate with him in the sports department as he is a fantastic storyteller and has a strong interest in sports.”
“I am thrilled to be working with Len Jennings again in the sports department at KMBC 9,” Evans exclaimed. “Having worked in sports markets across the nation, I can say that nowhere are fans more devoted to their teams and sports than in Kansas City.”
The station announced that it intends to add fresh, original sports content in addition to expanding the sports department. Plans to provide greater local sports coverage at the high school, university, and professional levels are being developed by Jennings and Evans.
“We will be able to devote even more time to telling the tales of the incredible local high school and youth athletes in the area who are so deserving of their own spotlight, in addition to the two-time Super Bowl champions and the other major sports franchises,” Evans stated.
