The gifted Scottish player has been on loan at Northampton Town for the past two seasons, and he has made an impression on the Cobblers.

Leonard, who is now back with Brighton, is anticipated to go on permanently, and Wrexham is a strong contender to sign him.

Fabrizio Romano, a transfer insider, has recently provided an update and discussed Leonard’s future on social media.

According to Romano, Wrexham and Oxford United are the front-runners for Leonard’s signature, followed by Birmingham City.

Oxford has recently gained promotion to the Championship, while Birmingham is currently getting ready to move into League One with Wrexham.

Romano estimates that a Leonard move would come with add-ons and cost approximately £300,000. This means that Wrexham may break the club transfer record this summer.

The record for Wrexham is the £300,000 they paid for Ollie Palmer in January 2022, going above and beyond to secure a seasoned striker in the midst of their promotion chase.

Leonard, on the other hand, is a young player with promise who might prove to be a wise investment in the future.

Cardiff City isn’t mentioned in Romano’s article, but the Championship team is rumored to be interested.

According to Sky Sports, Cardiff is interested in him and might even make an offer for him to move to the Championship, similar to Oxford.

Wrexham will not have an easy time competing against Championship teams, but the McElhenney and Reynolds idea has tremendous pull.

Leonard would be interested in joining that, particularly if Wrexham can persuade him that he will be more than simply a team member at the STōK Cae Ras.
