Mingione knows task won't be easy for Cats in Super Regional | Sports | kentuckytoday.com

Moments after upsetting Oregon State to secure its first-ever College World Series ticket early on Monday morning, Kentucky stopped daydreaming about Omaha. In the most memorable season in school history, the Wildcats achieved a long-standing ambition. Following a clean sweep of the best-of-three series versus the Beavers, Kentucky won a Super Regional series for the first time in program history and tied the school record for the most wins in a season (45-14)
.Center fielder Nolan McCarthy of Kentucky stated, “Devin (Burkes) and I have been talking about this since our freshman year.” “We were the ones that were pounding this area the hardest. We were down here discussing Omaha in a few years when they were on the road.

“It was either our first or second year, and we had to read a book called The Energy Bus,” he recalled. Since we were traveling to Omaha, we began referring to it as the “Omaha Bus.” McCarthy had always desired to compete in the esteemed College World Series and has been a regular fan since he was “10 to 15 years old in summer ball at a hotel somewhere.” “Having this opportunity is just incredible, and I’ve always dreamed of it,” he remarked. “It’s simply fantastic.”

McCarthy and Burkes advanced through the program, demonstrating their commitment to it. Being famous took time to achieve. Coach Nick Mingione of Kentucky claimed, “They didn’t go on road trips.” They merely bided their time. They did nothing but bide their time. These guys waited their turn, unlike many people these days who just up and leave when they don’t receive the playing time they want.
Week after week, they observed the bus depart. They merely remained here. And all they accomplished was better themselves, have faith in the initiative, and exert as much support as they could for Kentucky.

The Wildcats enter the College World Series riding a five-game winning streak, more than two weeks after finishing 1-2 in the Southeastern Conference Tournament and taking home a share of the regular-season championship. Last weekend, Oregon State, the three-time national champion, was swept by Kentucky after the latter won the Lexington Regional. The Wildcats broke the attendance record at Kentucky Proud Park on consecutive nights, Saturday and Sunday, respectively, giving them the best possible home-field advantage in their first Super Regional sweep.

Mingione declared, “These past three weeks, Big Blue Nation was unbelievable.” “Absolutely amazing, even going back to the final regular season series of the year.” Our supporters were quite active. I’m pleading with them to visit Omaha and foster the same atmosphere. Our athletes are great. They genuinely believe in each other and have unwavering tenacity, resilience, and belief in one another. And it was evident how much they truly loved each other. It was genuinely great, not just this weekend but really throughout the entire season.

Nick Mingione calls Oregon State, 'as well-rounded a team as we'll face'

The Wildcats aren’t content with merely making the eight-team field now that they have a destination in Omaha, Nebraska. Pitcher Robert Hogan described the situation as “really weird.” “Being in this situation is probably the finest thing any of us could have asked for. We therefore want to travel to Omaha and carry out our respective tasks, as we are far from finished.
