Donedeal: Leicester City have sign The “genius” strategist has there new managers…..

Graham Potter offered job with Premier League title winners

Leicester City has down the number of managers they are considering to replace Enzo Maresca to just two.

After leading Leicester City to the Championship victory, Enzo Maresca took the Chelsea role, leaving the team in a very tough situation.

The Foxes are without a manager as they are ready to return to the Premier League; supporters are hoping for a quick conclusion so they can move on to the next chapter of their team’s history.

Many names have been connected to the position; Leicester, in spite of PSR worries and the club’s reluctance to shell out a lot of cash to assemble a Premier League-caliber team, remains an appealing proposition.

Although names like Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, Carlos Corberan, and Ruud van Nistelrooy have been floated, Football Insider has learned that the Leicester leadership has selected its two front-runners.

Graham Potter is the favored management choice for Leicester City.
Steve Cooper and Graham Potter have emerged as Leicester’s top picks for the open manager role, according to sources close to the team at Football Insider.

Both coaches, Potter from Brighton and Chelsea and Cooper from Nottingham Forest, have recent Premier League experience.

Both were fired by their previous teams; in December, with Forest in danger of relegation, Cooper was replaced by Nuno Espírito Santo, while Potter was released from his almost insurmountable task of overseeing Todd Boehly’s player stash.

The Welshman’s connection to Leicester’s opponents, Forest, is a drawback for Cooper, and things might go south fast if he had a poor start.

Potter is the marginal favorite out of the two managers that are unemployed, according to Football Insider, which has verified the information from their source.

“Genius” Potter has to persuade Leicester that the position is ideal for him.

The issue that Leicester might face is that Potter has always wanted to manage England, and if he waits patiently, the position might open up following this summer’s European Championships.

But in a field where you may easily get forgotten, it is never a good indicator for a manager to remain unemployed for an extended period of time.

Potter was fired by Chelsea in April 2023. During that time, he has remained unemployed and has down several employment offers.

The 49-year-old probably won’t want to take his football retirement too much longer, and the East Midlands club’s talented roster and the opportunity to establish himself once more might be enough to persuade him to join.

Potter’s tactical adaptability is his strongest suit; as a former Swansea City coach, he rarely sticks to a single system.

Potter is a tremendously intriguing manager because of his ability to help players grow both individually and collectively. In 2020, an unidentified Swansea player told The Athletic that Potter is a “genius.”

“Sometimes we’d go into meetings with him and it was like you were back in school,” the player continued. I thought I was picking up some new knowledge.

He would anticipate that you should be able to alter your configuration not only from week to week but also throughout games. Many players found themselves playing in formations and positions they had never played in previously.

We would leave the stadium and pass teams by. It was such fun to play with him.

An excellent reference, it seems Leicester will use every effort to persuade Potter to take Maresca’s place at the King Power.

Enzo Maresca leaving Leicester City to become manager of Chelsea this summer may have one advantage.

After just one season in command, Enzo Maresca will not be short on admirers at Leicester City, as the team took a major chance by giving him his second senior management position.

The Argentine was named as Chelsea’s replacement for Mauricio Pochettino more than a week ago, while Leicester is still without a manager.

Behind-the-scenes efforts are underway to correct that; Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, Carlos Corberan, Graham Potter, and Steve Cooper are just a few of the names brought up.
