2025 Top-25 recruit Jamier Jones recaps visits, talks recruitment - Tar Heel Times - 11/29/2023

Jamier Jones pledges to attend Providence

Providence has received a commitment from Jamier Jones, the class of 2025 talent ranked No. 32 overall. The Orlando, Florida-born 6-foot-6, 210-pound forward picked the Friars over Ohio State, Houston, South Carolina, LSU, and Kansas.

“I joined Providence because they seem loyal and everything they’ve been telling me sounds good,” Jones remarked. “Coach English FaceTimes with me prior to every game and provides advice.” I’m quite confident in my choice.

Jones recently returned from a trip to Providence that preceded this choice. The staff made the case to Jones during his recruitment that, with commitment, he could advance to the next level.

“They want me to come over there as a freshman and average sixteen in the two or three plays. They provide me with the opportunity to become the one-and-done player I desire, and I am aware of the effort I must accomplish.”

Jones’ choice was also significantly influenced by the Friars’ success.

“Kim English, who came from George Mason, completely changed the program. After they arrived, the entire program was launched. I trust those people to get me to the NBA and help me stay there because they were a rated club the previous season.”

Transfer from Providence Garwey Dual will soon arrive at Seton Hall.

Garwey Dual, a former top-50 talent and Providence transfer, is moving to New Jersey to play for the Seton Hall Pirates, coached by Shaheen Holloway.
According to the 247Sports transfer portal rankings, the 6-foot-5, 190-pound four-star is rated as the No. 11 overall combo guard and the No. 107 prospect in the transfer portal.

Dual played in 33 games during his one season at Providence, starting six of them. Dual finished the previous season with averages of 3.3 points, 1.3 rebounds, 1.9 assists, and 33% and 25% from beyond the arc.

After taking part in the G-League Elite Camp and simultaneously declaring for the 2024 NBA Draft, he withdrew his name and carried on looking for a new program. Prior to declaring his choice of Seton Hall, Dual gave consideration to schools including Memphis, Georgia, Grand Canyon, UC Santa Barbara, Texas A&M, and BYU.

For the Pirates, who concluded the 2023–2024 season with a 25–12 record overall and the NIT Championship, Dual is the eighth transfer.

A scouting report on Dual and what he will offer to the Pirates in the next season was given by Travis Branham, national analyst for 247Sports.

“Garwey is a guard with a lot of potential who plays with aggression, makes a big effect on defense, and hasn’t stopped developing his offensive game. Dual’s tenacity, competitive nature, and two-way abilities make him the ideal partner for Shaheen Holloway, who can maximize Dual’s potential.

Dual will be eligible for three more seasons.
