Hunter Yurachek Once more, Razorback student-athletes are breaking academic records. The University of Arkansas set program records in both multi-year and single-year Academic Progress Rate (APR), according to figures provided by the NCAA on Tuesday.

Academic eligibility and student-athlete retention within each athletic program are the foundations of APR. The multiyear scores in this report are derived from the academic years 2019–20, 2020–21, 2021–22, and 2022–23.

The APR for the University of Arkansas athletic programs was a record rate of 987.2. This is the sixth time in a row that the program average has surpassed 980 and the 12th time in a row that it has exceeded 970. Arkansas’s previous record average, set in the 2021–2022 cohort, was 984.4. The 17 APR scores for the University of Arkansas that were made public are the basis for the average. APR results for both indoor and outdoor track & field are combined by the NCAA.

The University of Arkansas has outperformed the benchmark APR multiyear rate of 930 in all 19 of its intercollegiate athletic programs for the tenth consecutive report. Every program outperformed the benchmark by a minimum of 28 points, with 15 programs surpassing the 930 target by a minimum of 47 points.

Our student-athletes receive team support in their academic pursuits, just as they do on the field or court. We are able to fulfill our goal of developing champions and Razorbacks for life thanks to the efforts of our coaches, employees, and Razorback Foundation members.

APR Public Recognition Awards were granted to seven Razorback programs that achieved a flawless multi-year rate and were ranked in the top 10 percent of their respective sports academically. A perfect score of 1,000 was achieved by men’s cross country, men’s golf, men’s tennis, women’s golf, women’s gymnastics, women’s softball, and women’s volleyball over the four-year period. The University of Arkansas now has 43 APR Public Recognition awards since the program’s inception thanks to the seven programs that tied a school record.

Football was the program with the largest rise in multi-year rate—it jumped by 20 points from the previous year to six programs. APR multiyear rates also improved for men’s basketball (+16), women’s basketball (+7), men’s track and field (+8), soccer (+7), and baseball (+5). The multi-year APR rates for seven more programs were carried over from the prior year.

Arkansas’s single-year average rate of 991.1 for all 19 programs set a program record. For the first time, the rate in a single year surpassed 990. The previous program best was a 989.7 average for the single year in 2021–2022. Men’s cross country, men’s golf, men’s tennis, women’s golf, women’s gymnastics, women’s softball, women’s swimming and diving, women’s tennis, and women’s volleyball are the nine programs that achieved a flawless 1,000 single-year APR rate.

Men’s basketball increased its single-year rate by 76 points over the previous year, making it the sport with the most APR growth. Furthermore, the single-year rates for women’s basketball (+1) and men’s golf (+28) both improved. Nine other programs kept their one-year APR rates from the prior year.

Eighty-two Razorback student-athletes are qualified to take part in the fall or spring commencement ceremonies in 2023–2024. In addition, Arkansas is on track to achieve a 100% Razorback Graduation Rate, which is determined by the percentage of student-athletes who finish their athletic eligibility and receive their degree.

Superlatives of the University of Arkansas APR

recorded a multi-year APR rate average of 987.2, a program record, in the tenth consecutive APR report, with all 19 sport programs exceeding the 930 standard.
The program multiyear average surpassed 970 for the twelfth consecutive year and 980 for the sixth consecutive year.
Every program surpasses the threshold by at least 28 points (958) and 15 of them surpass it by at least 47 points (977).
For all of its sports programs, Razorback Athletics achieved a program record single-year average rate of 991.1. In the cohort of 2021–2022, 989.7 was the previous best.

Men’s cross country, men’s golf, men’s tennis, women’s golf, women’s gymnastics, women’s softball, women’s swimming and diving, women’s tennis, and women’s volleyball are the nine programs that achieved a flawless 1,000 single-year APR rate.
Throughout the program’s existence, Arkansas has received 43 APR Public Recognition honors, including a school record with seven honors in 2018–19 and 2022–2023
Eighty-two Razorback student-athletes are expected to graduate between 2023 and 2024.
