The season for baseball scouting is underway, and the MLB draft of 2024 is drawing near. The Yankees should take into consideration three pitching options in the first round, with the club selecting 26th overall.

By adding more pitching to your farm system, you can never lose. The top talent available to you can be chosen in the first round of the draft. Kyle Carr was the first pitcher the Yankees selected in the second round of last year’s draft out of ten total selections.

A number of possible pitching prospects at the university and high school levels will be featured on the MLB draft charts for 2024. These prospects are in the rankings that may correspond with the Yankees’ potential pick spots in the MLB draft in 2024.

Straight-handed right-hander Chase Burns attended Wake Forest University. On the list of top prospects for the MLB draft in 2024, he is ranked number five. San Diego selected Burns in the twentieth round of the 2021 draft. He chose to improve his stock and continue playing college baseball.

In high school, Burns demonstrated his professional abilities by hitting a fastball up to 100 mph. He finished 13-5 in his first two seasons at Tennessee, striking out 117 hitters while only walking 47. In nine innings, he struck out 14.3 batters on average.

He has a 2.46 ERA and a 10-1 record with Wake Forest. Over 95 innings, he has struck out 184 batters and walked 26. This year, Burns’ fastball has reached speeds of up to 102 mph, and his arm has incredible strength and longevity.

He uses a put-away slider in the upper 80s and commands well. In addition, he uses a low-80s changeup that has the potential to become a weapon and an outstanding mid-80s curveball.

Prospect for the 2024 MLB Draft: RHP/LHP Jurrangelo Cijntje

As the title indicates, Jurrangelo Cijntje is unique in that he offers pitches from both sides. Cijntje is ranked 31st among Mississippi State prospects. The Milwaukee Brewers selected him in the 18th round of the 2022 draft, but he chose not to sign.

Though he was born left-handed, he switched to becoming right-handed to fit his father’s build. His father was a professional right-handed pitcher in the Netherlands. Though it contains projections on both sides, Cijntje’s freshly designed side of the rubber may surprise people by being more effective.

He max out at 98 mph, settles in at 95–96 mph, and commands the air well from the right side. His go-to pitch is a mid-80s slider, and he also has a changeup that can reach 90 mph with fade and dip.

There is a little less power but more dart-action deliveries on his left side. The fastball has a tail and sits between 92 and 94 mph. A low 80s curveball that gives chase follows this. This season, Cijntje’s win-loss percentage is.800. He has walked 29 batters and struck out 108 in 83.2 innings pitched. This player poses quality in even higher selection rounds and is effective from both sides.

Prospect for the 2024 MLB Draft: LHP Gage Jump

Gage Jump is a highly effective southpaw with an arm slot and an unreadable fastball who was ranked 60th out of Louisiana State University. He was previously selected by San Diego in the 18th round of the 2021 draft.

His fastball has a bite and tail and peaks at 96 mph, with a velocity range of 90-95 mph. He commands the strike zone well and sends batters fishing with a late-80s slider and a high-70s curveball.

With LSU, he has thrown 73.2 innings thus far this season. With a 6-1 record, he has walked 20 batters and struck out 89.

At the very least, Jump would be a tremendous second-round pick or a great projectable first-round pitcher.
