NBA insider reveals the trade targets for the Los Angeles Lakers

This summer, the Los Angeles Lakers will undergo changes. Not everything is changing; we’ve already witnessed Darvin Ham being pushed out of town and the search for a new head coach in Los Angeles.

While most anticipate the Lakers to reach a deal with the future Hall of Famer, whether LeBron remains or not, they also have other needs to take care of on the roster. LeBron James is also eligible for free agency after reportedly choosing to opt out of his contract.

The Lakers still want further assistance, despite having LeBron and Anthony Davis on their roster. Nonetheless, there’s a strong feeling that because of their numerous tradeable assets, including as D’Angelo Russell, Jarred Vanderbilt, and Austin Reaves, they’re finally in an excellent position to address it.

Which players, though, might the Lakers look to deal for?

Trae Young and three other All-Stars are among the Los Angeles Lakers’ trade targets.

Jovan Buha of The Athletic reports that the Los Angeles Lakers have already started internal talks about trading for four All-Star players. Though it may not be clear until the offseason carousel starts spinning whether their teams are genuinely willing to negotiate, everyone is thought to be available.

Buha lists the four main Lakers trade targets for this summer as Donovan Mitchell, Darius Garland, Dejounte Murray, and Trae Young of Atlanta. Although the Lake Show attempted to trade for Murray in the past and had reasonable targets in Russell, Jalen Hood-Schifino, and their 2029 first-round selection as part of their original offer, the deal fell through.

As for Garland, he might feel betrayed by Cleveland’s commitment to his All-Star backcourt mate, but it is more likely that the Cavaliers will keep Mitchell with a maximum deal extension.

Regarding Atlanta, there have been long-standing rumors that they may split up their backcourt following Young and Murray’s inability to elevate the Hawks to a higher caliber of play. Although it’s currently thought that Atlanta needs to rotate its roster, it’s unclear if dealing Murray or Young would be more beneficial.

In any case, it is anticipated that the Lakers will be active throughout the summer, and even though the four players listed above are the initial objectives of their trades, another star could unexpectedly become available.
