May 31, 2024, Los Angeles, California — Avalon K–12 School staff, instructors, and students were treated to a special Rams Day by the Los Angeles Rams and Princess Cruises, the team’s Official Cruise Line Vacation Partner. The event took place on Santa Catalina Island. More than four hundred pupils participated in Rams Readers and football-related activities facilitated by Rams and Princess Cruises officials. Chris Draft, a Rams legend, also made a memorable visit.

In celebration, Christopher Blehm, the English teacher at Avalon High School, Katalina Vargas, the senior office secretary, and Jarely Silva, a student in the 12th grade, were each given a lavish 7-day cruise that included first-rate amenities and amazing experiences by the Rams and Princess Cruises. Employees had the opportunity to win a 7-day cruise through a raffle during the function. The Rams and Princess Cruises have been surprising deserving families and service members throughout Southern California with complimentary excursions since establishing their collaboration in August 2023.

“Princess Cruises and the Los Angeles Rams are synonymous with LA and renowned for our commitment to delivering amazing experiences and for showing deep appreciation in our community, including our passionate fans and local heroes,” stated John Padgett, president of Princess Cruises. “Princess is proud to partner with the hometown Rams to enhance educational opportunities on Catalina Island and to continue making a positive impact in the community at large.”

More than 100 preschoolers through third graders heard the Rams Cheerleaders and mascot Rampage read aloud from the team’s children’s book, Ride with Rampage, to start the day. A major feature of the Rams Readers program is Ride with Rampage, which inspires kids to discover the thrill that reading can bring while assisting in raising the region’s school literacy rates. Every pupil was given a Rams bookmark to take home along with a copy of the book. Every student in elementary, middle, and high school also got the chance to take part in football-related activities on Joe Machado Field, which were facilitated by Rams youth engagement coaches.

“We were ecstatic to have the Los Angeles Rams organization visit Avalon K-12! According to Emma Peguero, principal of Avalon K–12 School, “it was an immensely exciting event for our students, who had the unique opportunity to engage with professional athletes and learn from their experiences.””We appreciate the Rams for giving our children such a special and motivational day. Our school community has definitely been affected in a significant way by this occurrence, and we are incredibly appreciative of Princess Cruises’ and the Rams organization’s kindness and assistance.”

Giving back to the community is a shared commitment between Princess Cruises and the Rams. The Rams and Princess Cruises used the visit as a chance to improve youth sports initiatives and strengthen the local community in Catalina.

Los Angeles Rams Manager of Community Impact and Engagement David Weingarten stated, “Despite being a popular tourist destination, Avalon is home to a small, tight-knit community that benefits greatly from the support of the community around it.” “At the core of what we do is uplifting schools around the region and giving pupils life-long memories. Seeing the delight on the youngsters’ faces all day long and spreading our Rams enthusiasm throughout the island with Princess Cruises was a delightful experience.”
