Good news: Kentuck landed Three-star

Big man Jayden Leverett, a member of the class of 2025, is beginning to gain traction in his recruitment. Currently rated as a three-star prospect, the 6-foot-9, 205-pound big man from El Paso, Texas, has drawn interest from mid- and high-major colleges due to his performance this spring.

Currently, Texas, Oklahoma State, UTEP, New Mexico State, Sam Houston, Texas A&M, Corpus Christi, Rice, Yale, Colorado, Penn State, and others are vying for Leverett’s services. Texas Tech, Oklahoma State, and Mississippi State are among the more recent universities he has recruited.

He has only made one unofficial visit to Texas Tech in terms of visits. Future visits are not planned, but he has a few schools in mind.

“I’m supposed to have a visit to Texas but I’m not sure of the exact date yet,” he stated. “Outside of them, I know I want to visit UTEP, Kansas, Gonzaga, Kentucky and all those good schools.”

Leverett discussed several of the 247Sports programs and gave an account of his unofficial visit to Texas Tech.

Texas Tech: “We had a pleasant and enjoyable time. They told me character is everything and how important it is to them when they are recruiting when I was there. I was there because I have incredibly good character.”

Texas: “It’s a good friendship thus far. The head coach really stopped by my school a month ago to watch me practice. They told me they wanted me to go there and they’re quite hard on me. We have a pretty good relationship over there.”

Oklahoma State: There is a strong rapport there. I spoke with one of the coaches while he was still at UTEP, and he promised to aggressively recruit me to Oklahoma State.”

Leverett currently intends to decide on his college “sometime during my senior year.” He is aware of what he will be searching for when more institutions apply for his recruitment.

“I want a good education, good team, a program that’s unselfish and a school that prioritizes bigs.”
