Florida’s Coral Springs Maria José Marin, one of five players selected to the Women’s Golf Coaches Association Division I All-Freshman Team, has added another honor to her stellar debut season with the Arkansas women’s golf team.

José Marin just completed an outstanding collegiate career, winning All-SEC First Team and All-Freshman Team recognition in addition to being named a WGCA First Team All-American and SEC Freshman of the Year. With a 5-under 283 (72-67-71-72) in the NCAA Championship, she tied for fourth place. She was also named to the DI WGCA Freshman of the Year Presented by Stackaline Watch List, one of six recipients of this honor. The Cali, Colombia native ranked sixth overall and remained in the top six the entire season, according to the Scoreboard by Clippd standings. The World Amateur Golf Ranking has José Marin at No. 17.

José Marin led the squad in rounds at par or better (23), adjusted scoring average (68.8), rounds in the 60s (8), and scoring average (70.83) as a rookie. She recorded five top-10 results and four top-5 results, including a fourth-place tie in the NCAA Championship. José Marin finished second in the Carmel Cup and Mountain View Collegiate, and he won the Blessings Collegiate Invitational. She shot 11-under 205 (67-70-68) in the Carmel Cup, tying the 54-hole record set by Arkansas’s freshman class.

Arkansas just finished as a team in tenth place at the NCAA Championship in 2024. In their 12th participation at the National Championship, this was the Hogs’ best result since 2019.
